Delicious Homemade Broccoli Quiche Recipe.

February 27, 2010

A French dish that's actually originated from Germany, a quiche dish is easy to make and it's wonderful to make for a potluck or any homemade holiday event.

Usually a baked dish made with eggs and cream, this light and fluffy dish will have a creamy flavorful sensation in your mouth. Here is a quick and easy way to make a vegetarian broccoli quiche recipe.

You'll need the following ingredients.

INGREDIENTS

1 round pie crust unsweetened

2 cups of broccoli florets

1 onion which is peeled as well as chopped

1 tbsp of olive oil

1 cup of shredded cheese

4 eggs

1 1/2 cups of whipping cream

A pinch of powdered nutmeg

Pepper and salt

DIRECTIONS

Start by preparation of the crust for the purpose of blind baking. Make sure to fit this crust to a tart pan of 10 inch and then prick through this with fork tines at around 20 places. Then place this pan in a freezer for about 20 minutes while you preheat the oven up to 400°F.(When you place the crust in a freezer, it prevents it from bubbling or slipping during baking)

Then you can place this crust from the freezer directly in to your hot oven baking it for about 12 minutes until it becomes a nice golden. Remove this from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes. You can then turn your oven down to about 375°F.

Then the broccoli could be steamed for 3 minutes kept in a microwave. Make sure it is just about a little tender. See to it that it is not over steamed since you might lose the flavor of the vegetable.

Heat the olive oil on a non-stick small skillet at a medium flame. Then add the onion chopped to cook, stir it occasionally to make sure the onion is soft enough which could be about 5 minutes or a little more.

Spread the onions and the steamed broccoli evenly on to the bottom portion of the chilled crust. Sprinkle a little cheese on the top. In another bowl, whisk the whipped cream, eggs, nutmeg and the pinch of pepper and salt together until it is blended well. Pour this mixture on top of the cheese and vegetables. Place this pan in to the oven and bake it until it is done for around 40 minutes. Your dish is ready to serve six.
