Western Canadian Dating: British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba

"Recession?  What Recession?" proudly boasted Alberta's Minister of Finance.

While the rest of Canada and America continue to suffer through the Economic Downturn (aka the Great Recession), Western Canada suffers from "too many jobs - and not enough people to fill them!"

Even Alberta-based Walmart and MacDonalds outlets are forced to pay extra-high wages just to attract workers.  Walmart is moving workers at the company's own expense (with lots of bonuses) from the U. S. to fill vacancies in the booming province.

Alberta has been named a Canadian leader in economic growth.

The latest Economic Statement from Royal Bank of Canada says the province's economy could see a growth rate of 3.7 per cent in late 2011 and into 2012.

Continued investment into energy-related sectors is the driver of growth with oil and gas producers slated to spend more than 24 billion dollars this year, an 18 per cent increase over 2010.

The growth has also been a positive impact on employment.

More than 77,000 jobs were added to the Alberta economy in the first eight months of this year, the most ever recorded over that period of time.

According to a recent report released by RBC, Alberta is among the top provinces in Canada when it comes to economic growth.

The driving force behind this growth is Alberta's energy sector which in turn is creating thousands of jobs.

Second only to Saskatchewan, the report says Alberta's economy is set to grow at a rate of 3.7 percent in 2011 and 3.9 percent in 2012.

The national growth rate is 2.4 percent this year and is expected to be 2.5 percent in 2012.

Oil and gas producers will likely spend 18 percent more this year than in 2010. About 77,000 jobs have been created in just the past eight months.

"The demand for oil globally is going to continue to keep prices high and what that means is a lot of investment dollars ultimately creating a lot of jobs for Albertans," said Ben Brunnen, Economist with the Calgary Chamber of Commerce.

With continued expansion in the oilsands and strong housing starts and sales, economists predict Alberta will retain its position as a growth powerhouse into the future.

Sooo... With all this financial good news, what is the biggest problem in Western Canada?

Canadian Dating Sites: Money Matters and Dating Prospects - Figuring Out Your Ideal Mate

This is the painful reality about relationships. You cannot afford to make a commitment solely on the dictates of your emotions. You have to go beyond that and consider other aspects of the person, and this includes his financial profile. This means that you have to make a decision by taking into account critical issues such as money and financial incompatibility. If, for some reason, you see the red flags, you have to ask yourself if you are ready to accept the person for what they are. This will include their personal finance management skills.

Are you ready to make a commitment or spend the rest of your life with such a person? If you are not sure about how you are going to approach the situation, then it is strongly recommended that you consider the following parameters when thinking of going into a serious relationship with another person.

1. Be careful when it comes to penny pinchers

It would be great if you can find someone who is practical and wise when it comes to money matters. A person who hates debts but is still generous in their spending so long as they have the money to pay for it is a good candidate as an ideal partner. However, this doesn't mean that you will go for someone who is stingy.

If your date complains about the price for admission to movie theaters or the amount of markup on drinks and popcorn, then they may not be a good candidate to consider for a serious relationship. You must go for someone who can live within their means and date within an acceptable budget range. A person who does not complain about the money they spent while dating is an ideal candidate.

2. Check out their financial integrity

It is not inappropriate if you validate the financial integrity of the person you are going out with. Make sure that they are projecting their real financial status and capability. Avoid persons who pretend to be someone they are not. If you sense any hint of dishonesty in your date, then you have to move with extreme caution. If you are dealing with a person whose life is being funded by bank loans and credit cards, then it is best that you take them off your list of potential dates. This is especially so if the person intentionally keeps mum about their financial situation.

3. Be wary of persons who want to take control of your finances

Of course, long term relationships are built on trust. It is also practical for you to consolidate your finances when you are into a serious or long term relationship. You may allow your partner to manage your finances. They will be responsible in keeping track of your expenses. They will also be responsible in handling your bills and other payables while you can manage your investment portfolios including RRSPs, RESPs and TFSAs.

However, this does not mean that you give them full authority to decide in your behalf. You still have to be consulted before any major decisions are made. You are sharing the authority with them so that your work load can be reduced to a more manageable level. It is also more practical to consolidate your financial affairs so that you avoid overlapping of activities.

4. Discuss money matters before going into a long term relationship

When the opportunity presents itself, it is best that you start discussing money matters. This is extremely important if you are expecting that you are going into a more serious relationship with the person. Assess the level of competence and skill of the person when it comes to personal finances.

You cannot avoid this aspect of your relationship. If you want to find your Mr. Right or Ms. Right, it is essential that you consider someone who is money-minded. Your relationship is bound to fail even before it could take off if you insist in going out with someone who is not obviously good in financial management. You have to remember that money talks, even in relationships.

So -- go ahead -- Marry a Canadian Girl!

Dating Canadian Women -- How to Talk to Candian Women, Eh? A Guest Article by Kate Falken

One out of three Canadian women 35 and over now meet and date men through online dating sites.  One out of two women under 35 meet their match online.  The use of online dating services in the Dominion of Canada is one of the highest in the world.

The Top Three Dating Sites in Canada?

  1. CanadianFriendSearch.com
  2. BBWCupid.com
  3. InterracialCupid.com

Internet dating has become the number one method of finding romance and true love, report women, because it's most important to find the elements in a life partner that they have always wanted, but often gave up just to try to make "the relationship work."

What women want most in a long-term relationship is

  1. Shared values
  2. Commitment
  3. Love
  4. Loyalty
  5. Laughter
  6. Common interests
  7. Respect

Not necessarily in that order...

So you've just met a Canadian woman online.  What do you talk to her about (or aboot)?

Well, here's a list of Canadian women's favourite TV shows for the past decade:

  1. Survivor: Samoa & Heroes Vs. Villains
  2. Grey’s Anatomy
  3. Criminal Minds
  4. American Idol
  5. Dancing With The Stars
  6. The Amazing Race 15 & 16
  7. House
  8. CSI: New York
  9. The Mentalist
  10. NCIS

Now surely you have something in common there!

No Canadian television programming?  Hockey Night in Canada is #19.  Battle of the Blades is building in popularity.  Due South still has a loyal following in reruns.  Most Canadian women have fond memories of watching Anne of Green Gables and The Littlest Hobo as a girl.

Do you know the theme tune to The Littlest Hobo?

♫ There's a voice that keeps on calling me
Down the road, that's where I'll always be.
Every stop I make, I make a new friend,
Can't stay for long, just turn around and I'm gone again

♫ Maybe tomorrow, I'll want to settle down,
Until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on.

♫ Down this road that never seems to end,
Where new adventure lies just around the bend.
So if you want to join me for a while,
Just grab your hat, come travel light, that's hobo style.

Sing that tune to them and you'll start the tears.

Notice that there are no comedies in the Top 10.  When women say that they want a man "with a sense of humour" they really mean that they want a good-humoured guy who cares.  One of the most beloved clowns by women was Red Skelton.  On the other hand, women hate the Marx Brothers and the Three Stooges.  If you don't know why, you've got some growing up to do.

Free Dating Websites in Canada

Nowadays, people have endless options when it comes to choosing an online dating service, with sites that cater to all needs and lifestyles. There are sites based all around the world, that boast huge databases of users and free membership. With all the choices available, what service is the best to choose? Is it better to sign up for a local or international dating website?

Since the majority of people who sign up for dating websites are ultimately looking for relationships that will develop into offline, face to face meetings, location is crucial. Though international services may be appealing for those who move around a lot, or who are relocating to a different country, choosing a local site may help increase the chances that a local connection could be made. For Canadians, there are a plethora of free dating websites in Canada. While they may be based in Canada, many boast members from other countries as well.

Some of the largest free dating websites call Canada home. This creates an advantage for Canadian members, since the majority of users will be from Canadian cities. By signing up for a local site, that attracts more local members, theres a greater percentage of members from Canadian cities.

This makes it much easier to meet and chat with singles who live nearby, whereas signing up for a site based in the US or Europe may have a higher concentration of American or European members. Having fewer local choices makes it much more difficult to arrange casual coffee meeting with potential dates, and decreases the chances of making a potential serious match, unless one person is willing to relocate. Although international websites may seem appealing because of the huge numbers of members they have, there may actually be fewer members who live nearby, as compared to local free dating websites. By signing up for free dating websites in Canada, Canadian singles are more likely to meet more fellow Canadians, and thus giving themselves a greater chance at being able to meet their dates in person.

Alberta: the Economic Giant of Canada

Canada's economy is in excellent condition, despite the gloomy economic news from the United States. With the Canadian dollar on a meteoric rise, a robust national economy and excellent job growth, the Canadian economy is the envy of the G8.

Canada's national unemployment is only 5.9%. Most economists agree that an unemployment rate below 6% is equivalent to full employment, given a skilled mobile labour market. Canada is also one of the few countries in the world to no longer have a federal government spending deficit. It has a skilled work force, a strong rate of skilled immigration and a diverse economy that is increasingly less dependent on trade with the United States.

However, Canada's rosy economic outlook is not a uniform colour. Much of the latest round of economic growth has been driven by the Western Provinces: British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and (especially!) Alberta.

In British Columbia, the forestry industry is at the forefront of the economic landscape, with tourism a close second.  In Alberta, oil and gas production dominates the province's economy. Saskatchewan's mix of potash mining, oil extraction, and agriculture industries leads its growth. Manitoba's wide range of mining, agricultural and manufacturing products form its economic foundation.

Alberta's oil-rich resource economy is the real economic engine behind Canada's growth, hauling up every economic indicator across the country, from wages to exports.

The sheer scale of Alberta's economic growth is almost staggering to contemplate. The province's unemployment rate is a mere %, keeping the national average below 6%. Alberta's labour force has seen wage increases every year, far outpacing the rate of inflation. The average expected salary increase is 5.3% in 2007, Many Alberta workers have seen their wages rise by as much as 10% per year.

This has made up for employment stagnation and job losses in other parts of Canada - especially the eastern provinces.

Although Alberta's rapidly growing economy seems in good shape for the future, it is not invincible. There is a lurking menace in the form of a severe shortage of workers. Put in starkest terms, Alberta needs more workers than it can get.

When questioned why they so easily allowed the new projected pipeline of tar sands crude oil to be "job-heavy" on the Texas end and not the Canadian, oil business executives explained that Alberta already has more jobs than it can fill.  The controversial pipeline to Texas will boost tar sands shipments to the U.S., will give the struggling American economy a big boost and will create much-needed jobs there.

Alberta has attracted workers from all over Canada and the world. Migrants from other provinces, as well as skilled and temporary workers from abroad are increasingly drawn to Alberta by the promise of limitless job opportunities and high wages. However, even this flood of workers is not enough to feed Alberta's voracious appetite for labour.

Many experts agree that a shortage of skilled labour is the most significant barrier to Alberta's future economic growth. If the province cannot find more sources of skilled it could seriously threaten the economy. Already, some major oil-sands development projects have been delayed due to a shortage of workers.

The province, in concert with the federal government, is taking steps to help alleviate the problem through increased immigration. Citizenship and Immigration Canada recently announced new processing units in Alberta to help process Temporary Work Permit applications much faster than before, and react to the unique needs of Alberta businesses. However, it remains to be seen if immigration is a solution to Alberta's thirst. Even with the opportunities that Alberta can offer newcomers, there may simply not be enough.

The Booming Alberta Real Estate Market: the driving forces behind Alberta's home boom

There is an unmistakable and sustained boom in the real market of Alberta. Real estate experts are closely monitoring unfolding events as this one is expected to be one of the major rebounds in recent times. A lot of real estate investors and other seasoned stakeholders are placing their bets on key Alberta cities such as Calgary and Edmonton which are being hailed by many sectors as their "safe paradise."

We can attribute this real estate boom in Alberta to a number of reasons. Alberta is providing significant impetus to the economic strides that the country is experiencing in recent years. It has become the favorite haven of investors and stakeholders who are looking for long term investment opportunities.

Amid this vibrant economic landscape, Alberta is drawing record number of people who want to take advantage of this economic boom. These people are those who are going to the province to work and stay on a more permanent basis. This demographic trend has in turn brought about exciting and great opportunities in the real estate market.

If you want to get ahead of others when it comes to great real estate opportunities, then Alberta must be on top of your must-do list. The province is tops when it comes to real estate for the following reasons:

  • Alberta has one of the lowest prices not only among the provinces in Canada but also in comparison with other cities of the same size in the US and Europe.
  • Alberta has posted the highest economic growth among all provinces of Canada and this has opened a lot of earning and business opportunities. This has made Alberta as one of the top destinations of people who rent and purchase real estate.
  • Among all provinces, Alberta has the highest average income making it a prime choice for those looking for investment opportunities.
  •  Alberta also has the lowest personal and corporate taxes among all provinces in Canada. On top of this, Alberta does not have provincial taxes making it as the one of the best options when it comes to investment and business expansions. Further, its progressive tax system has also been the main reason why there is growing number of people who flock to Alberta for better career and job opportunities.
  • Alberta does not impose caps to rental rates and allow market forces to determine the price levels of real estate that are for rent and for sale.
  • Finally, if we look at the spending habits, there are more young adults in Alberta among all provinces in Canada who are serious real estate buyers.

The government of Alberta is geared towards promoting a friendly business climate with the implementation of progressive personal and business tax policies. This is the main reason why Alberta is being hailed as North America's "tax haven." Alberta has also done its homework in as far as its fiscal performance is concerned. Alberta's overall campaign in maintaining its economic performance is anchored on the concept that goes by the catch phrase "Alberta Trusts."

These positive features have provided the perfect venue for both individuals and business alike to become major cogs in the drive of Alberta in attaining greater economic heights. Amid all these exciting indicators, Alberta is the logical best choice for home buyers and real estate investors. Indeed, if you want to get the best real estate deals then Alberta real estate market should be in your priority list.

How to Migrate to Canada from the U. S. A.   Are Americans Fast Tracked?

There are many reasons to learn how to migrate to Canada from USA.

There are plenty of work opportunities and places to study in Canada. Many of the provinces in Canada offer no language barrier because English is the primary language. The predominant language in Quebec is French and many US residents in Canada can use their French skills to get by in that region. Traveling to Canada from the states is simple since the countries are connected by both bridges and land. Canada is quite similar to the US so there would not be much of a cultural shock, either. Due to immigration, Toronto is one of the most multicultural cities in the whole world.

There are six basic ways in which you can migrate to Canada from the United States.  They are listed here, with explanations:

  • Study
  • Work
  • Locate family and friends in the area
  • Marriage to a Canadian
  • Invest
  • Business

Study

The easiest way to immigrate to Canada is to choose a school or university and study in the country. Canada has customs that make it easy for people who live in the US to study at Canadian schools. Canada has some of the top schools in the entire world so many students would benefit greatly from studying there. You might want to apply to Ryerson University in downtown Toronto. This school has a campus that attracts people from all over the world, especially from the states. Once you have been accepted into a school or university to study, you can then apply for a temporary visa. That way, you will be able to move between Canada and the US during the time you are in school. You will also have to have a passport and it is best to have a clean past as far as criminal records are concerned. If you have finished your studies, or are not looking to become a student, there are plenty of other ways in which you could migrate to Canada from the US.

Work

If you want to find a job in Canada, you will want to secure the position before you apply for a work visa, whether you want a temporary or permanent visa. If you want to live in Quebec, you must learn French because it is the primary language. You will meet many English speaking people in that area as well, but it is best to know the common language so you do not get caught in an awkward position. Employers in Canada are always looking for workers in technical fields as well as environmental industries. You will have to prove to the customs department in Canada that you are employed within the country. This will make passage into Canada much easier.

With the Economic Boom in Alberta creating more jobs than workers to fill them, the government-sponsored Working in Alberta Tool can help you make well-informed decisions about where to live and work by producing a report that contains information on job descriptions, wages, skills, language training and job opportunities based on your training, experience and needs. The Working in Alberta Tool is managed by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada

The Alberta Immigrant Niminee Program (AINP) was created to support Alberta's economic growth by attracting work-ready immigrants to the province.

The AINP is an immigration program operated by the Government of Alberta’s Ministry of Employment and Immigration in conjunction with the Government of Canada’s department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada.  Although all nationalities are welcomed, American applicants are fast-tracked through the pro-American system.

Temporary Work

If you can not find a permanent job in the country, you could attempt to find a temporary job. This way, you could get a temporary visa to work and live in the country for a certain amount of time. When that visa runs out, you will have to apply again, or go back to the US. This can be a beneficial approach because temporary work can be easier to find and once you are in Canada, it may be easier to find permanent jobs. Companies are more willing to hire someone new if they only have to commit to you on a temporary basis. At the same time, businesses are more likely to hire you permanently if you have lived in the country for awhile and have experience in the given field. By getting temporary work, you will have a chance to prove yourself and strengthen your resume and skills.

Locate Family and Friends

If you already have family members in Canada, or even a set of friends, you can ask them to vouch for you. If they have been permanent residents for awhile, this can make the immigration process easier on you.

Marriage to a Canadian

Online Dating Sites have made relationships a truly international and multicultural experience.  Borders, cultures and even race no longer mean as much as sharing common values, interests, goals and passions.

Marriage in Canada: Under a ruling by the Supreme Court based on the Canadian Bill of Rights, Spouses and common‑law partners of Canadian citizens and permanent residents in Canada who wish to apply for permanent resident status are no longer required to have legal immigration status provided that they have an eligible sponsor.  Marriage Canadian Citizenship: A foreign national may be sponsored by a Canadian if he or she lives with the sponsor in Canada, has a valid passport or travel document, is 16 years of age or older and is the sponsor's spouse or common‑law partner for genuine reasons and not primarily to obtain permanent resident status in Canada.

Marrying a Canadian in another country: If a Canadian marries outside Canada, he or she may sponsor their spouse if the marriage is valid both under the laws of the jurisdiction where it took place and under Canadian marriage law.  A Canadian can sponsor a common-law partner if they are cohabiting in a conjugal relationship and have done so for at least one year, regardless of his or her sex.

American marry Canadian: as with other areas in immigration, American immigration procedures are fast-tracked.

Invest

If you want to invest some of your money in a bank or business in Canada, this can help you immigrate to the country as well. The amount you will need to invest depends on when you apply so it is best to check into what the demands are when you want to make the investment.

Business

If you have a successful business in the US, you might want to try expanding it across the border. You can then apply for residence much more easily.
